Here’s how we cut back, cleaned up and finished off a full outdoor winter preparation on this whole property. The finishing touch is mulch which helps with frost protection for the roots. It will all come back beautifully in the Spring!

A 2 part video… the first part was 2 years ago and the second part was from today. It shows what this garden looked like before we had done anything and then it shows how we finished it off today with a fresh installation of dark aged mulch. One of our specialties is restoring gardens that have gotten very out of control and overgrown. This is a big beautiful property that we have been taken care of now for over a year. Starting at the beginning of the season, in late winter/early spring, we began all of the preparation, pruning and shaping to make sure that these gardens were in their best shape for the new season. Once all the preparation work had been done including weeding and establishing a new natural edge on all of the gardens to replace the plastic garden edging that was there, we began installing 20 yards of dark aged mulch. This is what it looks like once that project was completed on June 29th, 2024. We do a lot of upkeep on a number of very large properties. This is one of them but in this video we are taking care of a little project to take care of something that has been on the customer’s mind for a while. A special garden project that’s about ‘the little things’ we do.
On the larger properties and smaller ones where we can… We mow in a different direction every week so that we don’t create ruts in the yard. After a couple of weeks when the patterns overlap, it can create some very beautiful patterns, like this. 💫😲

There’s nothing quite like freshening up the mulch on an entire property. Mulch helps the soil retain its moisture and keep cool so it provides some great protection during drought and heatwaves. Making sure there is a good gutter edge all the way around is very important so the mulch doesn’t spill over. Making sure that it’s not mounded up around the base of the plants is also important because they respire/breathe where the plant meets the soil. It also makes sure that when there is a rain or some watering it will get right down to the main root. Plus it just looks really pretty. Especially when it’s done right! 💪👩🏻‍🌾🧑‍🌾👩🏻‍🌾👍🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

This is very typical of the type of jobs that we get called in to do. Our reputation is based on top performance when it comes to being efficient, professional and thorough on a job like this. A perfect example of a spring garden clean up that saved a homeowner a lot of time and energy!
Doing a hard pruning job like this is definitely an art. Altogether this was 2 1/4 hours with two people on site to carefully tend to every branch of this tree as we transformed it into a bush so the homeowner could see out their window again. As you will see in the video… There is a part of the job that is not visible that is quite important when it comes to the final shape. We love being able to help homeowners out with jobs like this because it brings them such a relief to get it done and done properly. 👌🌲🌳❤️

Leaf cleanup?? She was a little shocked after all the trees decided to drop their leaves in one week
One of our neighbours just down the street from where we live had seen our truck a number of times and decided to call us in because she had not been able to take care of her own Gardens for pretty much the whole season. We split this project into four visits because we had to work it into our already busy schedule. She was incredibly happy and relieved once we were finished everything because of the massive difference it made and getting everything back to looking all cleaned up and properly tended to. It’s always nice when we can bring some joy to someone who lives so close to home. :)
One of neighbours called us in after a year of not being able to tend to her gardens. So we did 🙂
When a yard gets to be a bit too far gone for a homeowner to handle, we get called as the ‘clean up crew’ to get things back in shape. On a one day job like this, the goal isn’t to carefully manicure everything, it is to blast through the whole property and take out as much as we can. Hard pruning is best done late winter/early spring but a good clean up makes sure it won’t be as badly needed in the new year. It always takes such a load off the homeowner and we are always happy to bring them a great big sigh of relief. Ultimately, that’s what our service is really all about. 🪴👌🌱

This was a three day project that was split over the course of four days and three weeks because we had to fit it in with our regular upkeep jobs. Like I say in the beginning of the video… It’s amazing how many people talk about companies or crews that have shown up and looked at what needs to be done and then never get back to the customer who is really looking to get their property back in shape. Sometimes they don’t even have the courtesy to return calls or texts to say they are too busy. Even though we haven’t had a lot of time to garden this year, everything you see has been very well cared for, studied and learned from as far as plant science is concerned so we can better serve our customers. The ones in the smaller pots are all rescues from clean ups we have done. Below is a list of everything in the video. A question we get asked often is “what do you guys do when the grass is mostly dormant and not growing?” Our answer… “Gardens!” We specialize in all sizes of garden clean ups. This one was only lightly maintained over 3 years while the homeowners were out of country and had blackberries, overgrown buttercup weeds, overgrown mint (in the ground, not pots!) a massive compost/debris pile, a small willow tree that had to be removed and a whole bunch of dead material and rogue plants in the front gardens. 1.5 days and a 10 yard bin full to the top with debris later and the homeowner has a new, easy to maintain beginning. 💪👍🌿🎉☀️👌🌱
